VW MK61 16352 Fault Code Explained

The VW 16352 fault code is a direct indication of an internal failure in the ATE MK61. This unit is central to braking, as it reads and transmits signals such as wheel speed, brake pressure and yaw rate, to allow proper control of the solenoids in the hydraulic block. When internal defects occur, typically due to component degradation, the ABS module immediately detects this issue and stores the code into its internal memory:

  • 16352 - Control module defective

This fault will then be communicated over the vehicle’s CAN bus, prompting the ABS warning light to illuminate. This is persistent and is normally accompanied by illuminated ABS and ESP lamps, which will not clear until the ABS module is rebuilt.

In many cases, fault codes 01130 (ABS Operation Implausible Signal) or 01276 (Hydraulic Pump Malfunction) may also be logged, but 16352 is a strong indicator of failure with your ABS/ESP unit.

Our Comprehensive Solution

The fault code 16352 is caused by an internal issue within the VW’s ABS control module directly. This means that if you purchase a new replacement part, the unit is extremely likely to fail in the same way. If that wasn’t bad enough, you will also have to pay out for the coding.
