VW Crafter rear lights, headlights and indicator failure – common fault

vw crafter lighting problems

Loss of headlights, rear lights and indicators are commonly caused by internal component malfunction of the lighting/comfort control module.

Although it is more common to have illumination failure on the left hand side of the vehicle, sudden and complete failure can affect any and all external lights.

Often with the loss of the VW Crafter headlights, indicators and/or rear lights, fault codes will be stored for 903C - Left Turn Signal Indicator Short To Earth and 9033 - Left Brake Light Short To Earth. On occasion the lighting module may struggle to achieve communications to scan tools due to internal failure shutting down the entire unit.

We no longer offer rebuild services for this module but if you have a Crafter lighting control module that is no longer covered under manufacturer warranty, there are many online specialists who offer replacements for these units, such as: https://auto24parts.com/en_GB/c/COMFORT-CONTROL-MODULE/794 and https://www.worldecu.com/en/fuse-box-bsi
