Why Is The Mileage Flashing On Your Ford Ka?

When this occurs, the Blue&Me unit stops responding and drops off the vehicle’s CAN bus network. The body control module (BCM) monitors communication with other modules on the network, including the Blue&Me unit. If the Blue&Me stops responding, the BCM detects that the control unit is missing and stores a communication fault such as U1733.

This loss of communication result in a network configuration error. On the Ford Ka, this is managed by the proxi alignment system, which ensures that all installed control modules are present and synchronised on the CAN network. If a module stop communicating, the proxi configuration detects a network error, resulting in mileage flashing on the Ford Ka instrument cluster.
