Citroen C2/C3 SensoDrive Gearbox ECU

Citroen C2 C3 SensoDrive ECU fault

This SensoDrive gearbox ECU is a very common problem for all C2 and C3 vehicles built between 2003 – 2011, when the SensoDrive ECU begins to fail then you will notice that you are unable to select gears properly and this may also prevent the engine from starting. The fault is usually intermittent but then becomes more permanent if not rectified early.

Franchise main dealerships often rectify this issue by purchasing a new unit direct from manufacturer. This will also incur programming costs and only comes with a short one-year warranty. However the original design flaw is still present in units from the manufacturer, meaning that even new SensoDrive gearbox ECU’s are susceptible to malfunction.

We offer another way, a much more efficient and cost-effective option: we can fully rebuild the original gearbox ECU, working-out the factory design flaw, for a fraction of the cost of a new unit. All of our rebuilds carry an unlimited mile Lifetime Warranty so you can be assured this is truly the best option.

Test and rebuild:

Every SensoDrive ECU is individually tested on our custom-built Hardware In-the-Loop vehicle simulator. This enables testing under real-world conditions, revealing each fault. We then move onto the rebuild stage, replacing all commonly failing components with OEM or above rated components, and unlike the factory environment of the manufactures, our quality control is second to none.

We retain all the original programming from your SensoDrive gearbox ECU during test and rebuild. So, no need for any programming or coding work once you receive it back

Due to our extremely high standards and a work defect rate lower than 0.49% on all our rebuilds, we can confidently offer an unlimited mile Lifetime Warranty. Our strict quality control incorporates testing, ESD safety, components, workmanship, even down to securely packaging your unit for delivery back to you: all areas must meet our very high warranty standards.

Hello. My 06 c3 SensoDrive is doing of what has been described. Car starts and engine runs fine. When select auto or 1st the car requires excessive rpm to move, then the car drives away well and shifts up and down through all 5 gears and travels well however flaring is excessive. The car is garaged and not being used until problem is rectified. Please advise as to where the ECU is located and where the required code can be found and I will get back to you. Regards Peter. NSW Australia.

Hi, the ECU is bolted to the gearbox itself (next to the clutch actuator) and the part number will be found on the ECU.

my 2004 c3 seems to drive well if started off and driven in manual mode. If started and left in Auto has failed to drive at all if stopped in traffic. Turn off restart in manual mode and it drives away OK. On one occasion I had the "snow mode" indicator on and flashing. I am having the codes checked by dealer tomorrow. Car is in Melbourne, Australia.

Hallo i have P1718 is the ecu my Problem. Thanks
ECU Admin says: 9/7/2019 5:28:14 PM
Hi Aykanat, the fault code "P1718-Gear lever signal fault value incorrect" may be caused by a faulty gear lever or wiring, every ECU that we have tested where the customer reports P1718 as the fault code has not been faulty. It is most likely a fault on the vehicle rather than with the SensoDrive ECU.
