BMW 1 Series 140010 Misfire Fault

BMW 140010, BMW 1 Series Misfire

BMW 1 series models manufactured between the years 2015 to 2019 will frequently experience the failure of their engine management ECU. This common failure will cause the engine to misfire over one or more cylinders, which will gradually become worse over a period of time. However, if the vehicle is able to start, it will be forced into “limp home mode”, and the engine will suffer from rough running – these symptoms will persist until the fault is rectified.

Diagnosing the BMW 1 Series Misfire and 140010 Code

One or more of the following BMW fault codes will be discovered when diagnostic scans are conducted on the 1 Series, typically indicating misfires on multiple cylinders:

140010 – Misfire Multiple Cylinders Detected

140310 – Misfire Cylinder 3 Detected

140410 – Misfire Cylinder 4 Detected

150302 – Ignition Cylinder 4 Combustion Time Too Short

Additional fault codes can also be encountered, such as:

140001 – Misfire Several Cylinders Fuel Injection is Switched Off

140201 – Misfire Cylinder 2 Fuel Injection is Switched Off

140301 – Misfire Cylinder 3 Fuel Injection is Switched Off

140210 – Combustion Misfire Cylinder 2 Detected.

Solving the BMW 1 Series Misfire Problem

In response to the 140010 fault, manufacturers will typically suggest that a complete replacement of the BMW engine ECU is required. However, this means purchasing an expensive ECU, which will need to be reprogrammed to the vehicle at an extra cost.

Our solution will avoid these issues. We will complete a full test and rebuild of the original BMW 1 series ECU within 2-3 working days, preventing future misfires from occurring, and removing the 140010 fault code. On top of this, we will supply an unlimited lifetime mileage warranty for extra peace of mind.
