Audi A3 Common ECU fault
This Audi A3 1.9 / 2.0 TDI ECU is a very common failure, the ECU is manufactured by Bosch with system type 'EDC16U1'.
The failure is a well known common issue for the Audi A3 and will prevent the engine from starting when the failure occurs, you may find that the fault is intermittent in nature to start with but then becomes a permanent failure soon after. Sometimes turning the ignition on and off in quick succession may temporarily allow the engine to start but then the fault returns once the engine is switched off.
You may notice that the engine management light fails to illuminate on the instrument cluster when the fault occurs, if you have had the fault diagnosed then you may also find that your diagnostic equipment will fail to communicate properly with the engine system to retrieve fault code information.
These above symptoms are all promising signs that your engine ECU may have failed. We can test repair your own ECU or we can supply replacement units from stock that are pre-programmed so there is no need for a trip to the dealer for programming - just simple plug in and drive away. Both options come with an unlimited mileage Lifetime Warranty*.
