VW Golf & Touran ESP light on

VW Golf & Touran ESP light on
This is a very common problem for all VW, Audi, Seat & Skoda vehicles fitted with ESP (Electronic Stability Program). The problem will usually occur during driving, the ESP light will appear on the dash and will not extinguish even if you press the ESP OFF button.

If you take your vehicle in to the garage to be diagnosed then they will inform you that the cause of your ESP light on your dash is because your ABS pump/module has failed. They may even give you a fault code of: “01435 Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (201)” this will mean that your fault with your ESP light problem will be caused by your ABS pump.

Common vehicles effected by the ESP light problem:
VW Touran
VW Golf V
VW Golf Plus
Seat Leon
Seat Altea
Seat Toledo
Audi A3
Skoda Octavia

Vehicles effected will be built between 2003 and 2008

What is the ESP light for?
The ESP light will illuminate as a warning to the driver that the ESP function is no longer active due to a fault with the system.

What is ESP & why do I need it?
ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is an additional function to ABS (Anti-Locking Braking Sytem) and TCS (Traction Control System). Whereas vehicle fitted with just ABS & TCS will have the ability to prevent the wheels from locking or spinning completely during harsh braking or accelerating. Vehicles fitted with ESP also use additional accelerometer sensors around the vehicle, to detect when the vehicle might be about to loose traction whilst cornering or sudden turning to avoid a collision at speed. If excessive longitudal or lateral acceleration/deceleration is detected, by sudden steering at speed then the ESP system will momentarily apply the brake to one of the opposing wheels, preventing excessive lateral movement that causes loss of traction to the road and loss of driver control of the vehicle.

How do I correct the ESP light problem?
To purchase a new ABS pump from the main dealer would cost you well over £1200 and they only give you a one year warranty, however we are now able to fully rebuild your ABS pump/module for £250 and provide a two year unlimited mileage warranty.

We will need your ABS Pump for approximately 2 - 3 working days to complete the full rebuild (times may vary depending on current workload & demand). If you would like to arrange for your ABS Pump to be tested and rebuilt then please fill in this test form.
