Rover K series engine, high or erratic idle speed common fault

A common fault with the Rover K series engine is an erratic or high idle speed problem, this fault is normally caused by the wrong grade of spark plugs being fitted. This causes a lot of radio interference around the ignition coil, and causes the ECU’s idle speed software to become corrupt as the ECU is located directly next to the ignition coil. To rectify this problem the spark plugs will need to be changed for the correct grade Champion plugs and a replacement ECU will need to be sought. The worst offending plugs for radio interference tends to be an NGK spark plug.
