Toyota MMT (Multimode) Clutch Actuator / Gearbox Malfunction

Toyota MMT (Multimode) Clutch Actuator / Gearbox Malfunction

The Toyota MMT clutch actuator, which is fitted to gearboxes on the Toyota Auris, Corolla Verso, and Yaris, will often fail preventing gear selection, which will leave the vehicle undriveable. This loss of drive will regularly cause the N symbol to flash on the gear selection screen, indicating that the clutch actuator is faulty.

Although the majority of these faults happen when the vehicle is stationary, immediately after the ignition was turned on, these issues can also happen whilst driving, which will cause the gearbox to drop out of the current gear, and back into neutral.

With the Yaris, Aygo, Corolla Verso, and Auris, all being affected by the troublesome Toyota MMT clutch actuator and gear selector, these vehicles will commonly store the fault codes including P0810 – clutch position control error and P0900 – clutch actuator circuit, which are a clear indication that one, or even both, of these actuators has failed.

Replacing both the clutch actuator, gear selector, and the clutch itself, results in an expensive and lengthy clutch re-learn procedure. This severely increases the time, labour, and expense needed, which is usually not necessary.

Our solution to the Toyota MMT clutch actuator and gear selector problem is a full rebuild of these actuator, for a fraction of the cost of new replacements. Unlike the limited one-year warranty provided by the manufacturer, we provide an unlimited mile lifetime warranty*. So, you are really getting the best of both – a cheaper alternative to a new set of actuators, and a much better warranty to boot.

Once all the internal faults have been identified, our technicians will rebuild the actuator, replacing all commonly failing parts with components that are higher quality than standard. The unit is then extensively re-tested to ensure that no further faults remain, this means that your rebuilt actuator will perform as good as, and if not better than a brand new replacement unit.

Programming:

No coding is required for these actuators, so once you receive the unit back just simply plug and play.

Quality:

Our strict quality assurance process allows us to attain a defect rate no higher than 0.49%, ensuring that all rebuilds adhere to our high quality, and lifetime warranty standards. Because of this, we are trusted by many major dealerships and specialists throughout the world.

Hi, I have a Toyota Corolla Verso 2007 model. It have P0810 error code on OBD. May I know it error is need to replace clutch actuator? Or rebuilt it (as above article)??
ECU Admin says: 28/10/2020 09:32:06
Hi Alan, P0810 would suggest a faulty clutch actuator (P0810 – Clutch Position Control Error / Clutch Actuator) we offer test and rebuild on that: https://www.ecutesting.com/product-catalogue/toyota/corolla/actuator-clutch/claxxxxx1/

Looked in the Yaris booklet , the red icon indicates that multi mode manual transmission / heat clutch warning light? Ive goggled this and to many responses, could you tell me what the exact cause was of car just stopping with engine still on ? Would really appreciate your reply Thanks
ECU Admin says: 06/01/2020 09:43:01
Hi Mebs, we would recommend getting the vehicle scanned with diagnostic tools. This will give us fault information and help you diagnose the vehicle accordingly, feel free to contact us once you have this information https://www.ecutesting.com/contact-us/

I have an 05 reg Yaris which has the same fault, how do I know if its the clutch actuator or gear selector that needs to be replaced? Error code is 0810 and engine size is 1.0
ECU Admin says: 25/11/2019 11:25:49
Hi John, If you have the fault code “P0810 - clutch position control error” then you more than likely have a faulty clutch actuator, for prices and shipping information please select your Toyota Yaris clutch actuator from the following list: https://www.ecutesting.com/product-catalogue/toyota/yaris/actuator-clutch/
Vincent says: 14/08/2019 14:49:54
Wat will the clutch actuator do when faulty
ECU Admin says: 14/08/2019 16:15:20
Hi Vincent, if you have a faulty MMT clutch actuator then the vehicle will not select gear so you will experience no drive. If you scan your vehicle with diagnostics you may also find fault codes for P0900 – clutch actuator circuit and/or P0810 – clutch position control error. If you would like us to test your MMT clutch actuator then please fill in the test form: https://myaccount.ecutesting.com/?return=/TestForm&lang=en-GB
