Alfa Romeo 147 Engine ECU common fault

Alfa Romeo 147 engine ECU repair

This Alfa Romeo 147 engine ECU is a common failing ECU that will cause non starting of the engine and a failure to communicate with the engine system when performing diagnostic checks.

It is also common for the throttle body to make a chattering/buzzing sound if the ECU has failed. We do also see these units failing with engine misfire faults or general rough running symptoms, but these symptoms are far less common than a non-starting fault.

The routine resolution to this issue would be to purchase new from the manufacture, however this new unit will need programming to the vehicle once it is fitted, adding more cost to the owner.

Our solution is far more cost effective, we test and rebuild your own unit within 2-3 working days, and because it's your own there will be no need for programming once you receive it back from us.

Common failing part numbers:

Affected Vehicles:

Test and rebuild:

We test every ECU on our purpose build HIL (Hardware In-the Loop) test rig before rebuilding your unit so that you can be sure of your diagnosis. Once we have rebuilt your unit we then test it again to ensure that it is functioning to the manufacturers specifications and performs as good as, if not better than a brand new unit. We use higher rated than standard components during the rebuild process so you can be assured that once your unit has been rebuilt by us, that it will not fail again.

Programming:

This ECU is programmed to the vehicles immobiliser system, therefore fitting a second-hand replacement unit is not possible, also, if you were to purchase a brand-new unit from the manufacturer then it would need programming to the vehicle which would be an additional expense. When we rebuild your own unit we retain all of the original immobiliser programming so there is no need for any additional coding or programming work when your receive it back. Just plug it in and away you go.
